Finish writing Baltimore Nocturne, have Russell McCray play alto on itâ ¦ pick his brain for hours in a coffee shop but this is the best that I could do: http://ahrenbuchheister.tumblr.com/HOME | The cork on the neck on my alto sax, started to chip of and now it's pealing of it's only like a 1.5 com tear at the bottom, it works but it is not in tune. Would a repair shop be able to replace the cork?
I also play alto saxophone for my 7th grade band. The cork can be easily fixed by someone in a shop. I use music center but thats just me. And the reason your cork is chipping and peeling is you may be useing too much or useing not enough cork grease. If you dont have cork grease i would recomend getting some as soon as possible. It makes it easier for your mouthpiece to slide on and off so the cork doesnt chip and peel. Vito clarinet - Shop sales, stores & prices at TheFind.com:: $915.00. 1Stop Clarinet and Sax Shop . Good luck with the cork problem. Hope I helped you
Yeah. The cork is important, serving many purposes. Not only is taking the mouthpiece off and on and not using sufficient lubricant reasons for the cork deteriorating but as well are the acids and sugars in the saliva great culprits in degenerating the cork. With it in the condition as it is now, it does get worse.
Keeping the integrity of the cork intact and the mouthpiece clean is part of maintaining good hygiene. The cork as a part of your horn may seem a minor thing, but it is not.
Your horn's sound will never be on point in the way it is now nor will your breathing be economically used; moreover, saliva accumulates where the tear is, which causes chemical reactions with the finish of your horn metal causing it to discolor, tarnish; accumulates bacteria, gums up the key pads as well as slows the responses in the keying mechanism overall.
