I live in Northern Ireland and really doesn't depend on the occasion where you what decide what to wear it really comes down to the person.
I know girls that go into town and wear dresses and heels to go shopping to work, to get there hair done.
i know men who wear suits to go and get the car washed, to go to doctors appointments etc etc!then on the other hand i know girls that go into town wearing jeans, tshirt and a little jacket. etc etc
anyways you get my point. but yeah i think it goes without saying that its common sense that your required to dress up for birthdays, Mass (church), clubbing, work meetings etc.!

WEll in the US most people dress casually everyday. Exceptions include business jobs which require more formal attire. Church. Weddings. Funerals. Etc.
in the philippines, boys wear 'barong tagalog' and girls wear 'baro't saya' on some special occasions
