Hmmmm... and why are you qualified to speak on this topic if you
cannot justify your own marketplace? Sorry... had to ask. LOL! I
imagine many others asked the same question, and that's why you didn't
get an answer.
I would say that the opportunity is significant provided you are
willing to work in a large geographic area (or travel), and that you
can put significant dollars towards promoting yourself. Having an
agent helps tremendously, as does having a published book or having
proprietary material that you've developed and can offer that is
unique from other speakers. Aligning yourself with one of the content
houses that sponsor speaker bureaus is also a plus.
There's definitely a need out there, and the engagements go to the
ones that provide solid content, a verifiable track record (proof's in
the puddin') , and are available at a fee that sponsors can afford --
typically $1500 per 7-hour day (and up slightly depending on
audience.)
You might also want to consider in-house training... going to a
business and training their marketing department for a fee (typically
around $350-$500 per person per 2-day engagement.)
You must have print or electronic materials for the course content,
and a website and email address are a must -- but being a marketing
professional, you probably know that already, right?
