Would only be illegal if she used them,How did she get them in first place?Sounds like typical mother in law,Got to have their nose in everything possible,Need to stand up to her sooner rather then later as things will only get worse,

Well I can see there are good intentions there but at the end of the day it is private information about you. Tell her you already have them written down and in a safe place so now she can destroy them. If she refuses tell the authorities, a bit drastic I know but if she has them who else has them.

is your mother in law planning a family id theft. do you really think that she would hurt all of you? I have all of my children's and grand children's SS #. And i have used them for my children in times of need. (like getting them car insurance, paying bills for them,ETC.) I also have used the numbers to get the grandchildren stock and college funds. It is not illegal for her to have the number.
