Whenever something goes majorly wrong in this country, politicians have always jumped up and called for congressional hearings or special hearings or appointed a special prosecutor to try to get to the bottom of what went wrong and who was to blame? Could it be that the mortgage giants were only operating with the existing laws and regulations that were in place and it is our lawmakers that need to be held accountable for their inaction even after years of warnings? Could it be that congress is so deep in the manure in this one that no serious attempt will ever be made to get to the bottom of this? Does the constitution provide for the creation of a body with the power to subpoena congress, since congress is too deeply involved in this failure to be able to objectively and impartially investigate itself?
