Alex Payne â ” Why I Don't Allow Comments, and More on Everything :: Feb 24, 2009 The main reason I don't allow comments is that I want to inspire debate. I think people do their best writing when they're forced to defend http://al3x.net/2009/02/24/why-no-comments-more-everything-buckets.htmlHOME | Im a freshman in college and its been about a month and a half into the semester. We have 4 tests which the bulk of our grade revolves around per semester in each class and so far I've only taken 1 in each class. Problem is I'm failing most of my classes. I have 3 D's and an F. only class I'm passing is Intro American Politics with a B.
I admit I haven't been focusing much on school at all, but I'll be more serious now. Since only 1/4 of the majority grade tests were taken, I can still pass my classes if I do better on the rest of the tests right? dude u dont fail instantly out of college...u get put on acedemic probation...then if u **** up the next semester youre out, well thats how it is in my school
Drop the classes in which you will not get a least a C (if you can still drop classes), this way you will minimized damage to your future GPA. Also, it sounds like you need some growing up. You need to do something else before you continue with college; you need to get a job for a year or more to find out what you want to do (college may not be for you). After a year you will be more mature and motivated to do what you need to do. Good luck.
This is not an unusual problem for a college freshman -- a lot of people have trouble paying attention to school when they're out on their own for the first time at college. There are definitely a lot of distractions.
But it's really good that you recognize that you can't continue this way. You can still pass your classes if you do really well on the remaining tests. You could also try talking to your professors -- profs don't like to see students fail. It's disheartening. They might be able to make some suggestions about particular study methods that work well for their specific topic, or they might recommend a tutor, or something like that. You're going to have to work hard to make up for what's already done, but you can do it. Freshman-level classes aren't really that hard, you just need to apply yourself. You should develop the determination to work hard. If you have concentration problem you can go for some meditation classes. Plan your studies and stick to your timetable. That's very important.
Every thing is in your hands. Nobody can force you.
good you realize it. you have to go on. it is so important.
is there someone in the school who could help you - a counsellor or someone like that. they should be able to help you to get better and give you a plan which should make it easier for you.
