SBC has landed a three-year voice and data services contract from St. Louis-based electrical and telecom supply giant Graybar, the companies announced today.

"By enlisting the services of SBC companies, we expect to improve efficiency and consistency of voice and data transmission across our network," Steven Becker, Graybar's CIO, said in a statement.
The agreement includes voice service and Internet access for Graybar locations nationwide as well as a link between Graybar's main data center in St. Louis and its backup data center in Kansas City.

With more than $4 billion in annual revenue, Graybar employs 7,100 people at more than 250 distribution centers throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico.
Wes Warnock, a spokesman for San Antonio-based SBC, said Graybar was not a customer prior to this contract.
Large carriers covet these deals with corporate customers because they are long term and can often be built on. The addition of enterprise contracts was one of the driving forces behind SBC's $16 billion bid for AT&T.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
