Washington, DC -- Two years ago, leading Independent Libertarian presidential candidate Daniel Imperato made a bold declaration that if the United States didnt take action with Cuba someone else would. It now appears he was right and the failed diplomacy of the Bush Administration has contributed directly to the unification of two of our main adversaries: Hugo Chavez and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad teaming up in an attempt to disrupt our weakening economy.
“We put ourselves in this position by allowing our deficit to mushroom thanks to an Administration that chose to ignore the consequences and costs of going to war in Iraq. The fact that the major economic powers are discussing an end to trading in US dollars, combined with the lack of negotiating with Iran - which I offered to do personally - and failure to patch up relations with Cuba, we are faced with a serious global squeeze being engineered by actors who would like nothing better than to see us falter.

A careful review of Mr. Imperato’s press releases show that both December 20, 2005 and August 4, 2006, he forcefully requested that the administration “embrace Cuba’s leader Fidel Castro, to forgive him for the past, and to show the leadership ability of the United States to continue as the light for the world.

“Cuban and Spanish American people deserve better. Once again”, according to Imperato, “the administration did the country a disservice by not heeding my advice. Due to the lack of US influence, the presidents of Venezuela and Iran are unified in their quest to defeat U.S. hegemony in the world. The falling US dollar and the enormous debt that our government owes have opened the door for other countries to exert their influence 90 miles south of US territory.
“It was just a matter of time for Chavez to gain strength in Central and South American because of his understanding for the poor, and his ability to project a serious concern for underprivileged. Combine his influence with that of Iran’s Ahmadinejad, and the US is faced with a serious new axis to contend with. There is still time to break the impasse in relations with Cuba and negotiate a balanced diplomatic solution to a decades old impasse.
I believe in order to breakthrough and establish stronger relations with our island neighbor, that Fidel Castro, his people, and his government, must be liberated from our economic embargo immediately.
