Birmingham was the powerhouse of the industrial revolution, nicknamed the â ˜city of a thousand tradesâ ™. Today, it is still hugely influential. Famous for excellence in the arts, music and sport, it is the largest of Englandâ ™s core cities.

Anyone wanting to buy property in Birmingham will be overwhelmed by the wealth of attractions on offer. There is, quite literally, something for everyone. Birmingham is thought to be the birthplace of the English Football League and home to the worldâ ™s oldest Lawn Tennis Club; Symphony Hall is one of the finest concert venues in Europe; the NEC and NIA attract leading rock and pop performers from all over the world, and Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery houses one of the finest collections of pre-Raphaelite art in the world. On top of all this, Birmingham boasts the â ˜Balti Triangleâ ™ famous for its informal and excellent Indian cuisine.

Birmingham (or Brum) is also famous for its â ˜Brummieâ ™ accent, something of which locals are fiercely proud. Well known Brummies include Bill Oddie, Clare Short and Ozzy Osbourne.

In recent years, Birmingham has benefited from two huge regeneration projects, Brindleyplace and the Bullring. The first is a canal side development, which mixes office buildings and restaurants; the second is a huge shopping and leisure complex. The city embraces modern innovations and architecture and this is a definite plus if you are looking for new homes in Birmingham.

New developments include the Attwood Green regeneration project, which is about sixty-three acres in total. Park Central, an area within the development, will showcase modern town houses and apartments. The Skyline development in the town centre also promises twenty-first century living, centred on an inner water-filled courtyard. One or two-bedroom apartments are available. If you are looking for property for sale in Birmingham, and you have a strong attraction to clean space and modern lines, then new builds are the perfect choice.

Alternatively, Birmingham has plenty of older housing in areas like â ˜leafyâ ™ Edgbaston, which is perceived as one of the cities more affluent areas. This is more the case for the central and southern zones â “ the north is not as well heeled and the prices are more affordable. Nearby Selly Oak is a favourite with students and buy-to-let house hunters. However, if you like terraced houses, pubs and takeaways then Selly Oak might be just up your street. Bournville is another possibility, and is inextricably associated with Cadburys. However, if you are a chocoholic then the temptation of Cadburyâ ™s World, just down the road might prove too much!

Whatever your preference for property, Birmingham has the home, flat or apartments of your dreams. It is a vibrant, energetic city that shows every sign of being an urban hot spot for years to come.
