On the bottom rail there is a little triangular plastic tab, that fits comfortably between your fingers. Take this tab between your fingers and gently go up or down and the shade follows.
They use a spring gear to cause this to happen very smoothly, just like cutting soft cheese. No more trying to grab the cord in the right spot, you just grab this little tab and do your thing.
