I recently, in what I'm pretty sure was The New York Times, but may have been Slate, read about an art exhibit in which the things displayed were corporate logos, and the corporations paid a certain amount of money to display their logo, paying more for a larger size. What is this art exhibit, where is it, and where can I find the article. A long, detailed answer is not desired. Thanks.

  • "For more on the show, its sponsors, and forthcoming catalog, go to BlkMrkt's Web site. Click "No Thank You" to get a straightforward list and rundown; click "Yes Please" for a presentation that's far more amusing." http://www.blkmrkt.com/gallery/ryan/ryan.html

  • I chose "Yes Please" and would suggest you not choose that option as I didn't find it amusing. A large number of new windows opened in my browser.

  • Hello Kurl-ga, Thank you for your question. The art exhibit you’re referring to is Sponsorship. This exhibit is located in a small Los Angeles art gallery called BlkMrkt and will be on view through March 21. Here is a short excerpt from the article: Your Logo Goes Here: An art exhibit with no art, just ads by Rob Walker Posted Monday, March 3, 2003 “Last month, when a small Los Angeles art gallery called BlkMrkt opened its new show, "Sponsorship," a more-than-capacity crowd turned up. Hundreds of people (including, rumor has it, Keanu Reeves) were unable to get in before the fire marshal shut the proceedings down. Curiously, all this buzz was for an art exhibit with no art. The visuals are just logos, chosen not for aesthetic reasons, but for monetary ones: The inclusion and display size of the logos was a matter of who agreed to sponsor the show and how much they paid.” The complete article can be viewed at Slate: http://slate.msn.com/id/2079501/ Search Criteria: art exhibit of corporate logos I hope you find this helpful and if there is anything that I've written that needs clarification, please ask before you rate this answer. Best Regards, Bobbie7-ga

  • Thanks
