Today, there are massage institutes that offer acupressure certification courses as part of their programming. As an Oriental healing art, this particular therapy has been facilitated for many centuries and is known for its natural healing attributes. In an acupressure certification program, students gain in-depth education on the history and philosophies of acupressure, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and the similarities between acupuncture and acupressure. Those successfully completing all training requirements through a quality acupressure certification course, and who have passed the ABT exam, become certified as Diplomate of Asian Bodywork Therapy (Dipl. ABT). For the aspiring therapist, it is wise to determine respective State licensure requirements.* (States require a minimum of 300-500 hours of massage therapy training.)
